Will prices drop?
« on: September 10, 2006, 05:07:00 PM »
Do you think the prices will drop any more for a last minute trip leaving on the 24th of September?
I'm looking at $426 plus tax for a week at Brisas G. NO single supplement!
Should I book this week or wait until next week?
I don't want Veradero or the Cayos. No snorkelling at either.
 Opinions anyone?
 Thanx,
 Bigjohn.
I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

Looking at the prices for the next weekend, I would say that there is a good chance that it will drop, however nothing is certain.

We thought we got a killer deal for Royal Hideaway and booked 6 weeks in advance, if we had waited until today we could have it for $100 cheaper.       But again no guarantees, so you roll the dice and take a chance.

I checked the selloffs for next weekend and I was up to page 15 and they were still all under $500, lots of choice if you're not too picky about where you go.

The first couple of pages were all under $400 and included Cuba, DR and Jamaica.

This was on Your Travel Tickets, we find that they consistently have the lowest prices.

It's a gamble, but sometimes it's worth it.

You're right, you never know?? Big John there will likely be deals for your flight right up until you leave?? Is this the best??? Who knows, but what is the price to Amigo, next door to Las Brisas?? If you are by yourself ...check it out!! (IMHO)
We are looking at Breezes Jibacoa for the 22nd of Oct....$487.00 +tax?

Thanks,
The deal killer for most places is the single supplement. Anywhere from $80 to $450. I will not go back to the DR, and Jamaica is too pricy for most places. Cuba is comfortable.
I need to leave Sunday. There are cheaper trips on Friday and Saturday, but that doesn't fit my schedule.
I'll probably wait until Wednesday and hope prices don't rise.
 John.

I've just checked myself on Your Travel Tickets.

Though Brisas is priced with Signature at $426.50 when you go through to book it the price had jumped to $506.50  + $199.90 taxes

However the Sunquest one which shows Room upgrade to a Villa and is priced at $427.50 continues at that price when you go through to book it and with taxes at $198.90 is $626.40 in total.

As the hotel is still undergoing renos I expect all rooms are Villas at the moment.

Usually for sell-offs, the change happens on Tuesdays, about 11 AM.
I won't be booking until Wednesday unless the Tuesday price is good.

Bigjohn:

We have been to Cayo Coco on three occasions. The time we stayed at Playa Coco the snorkeling was amazing. There is coral about 30 ft from shore with tons of fish. We even saw a barracuda.

 Happy Vacation hunting.

 Hey avid traveller:

I see you were at Playa Coco in December 2004, so was I.   I went for two weeks 5th - 19th December.

Will prices drop you ask?

I just checked the prices for this weekend and now I'm crying in my mojito.     :(

We booked almost 2 months ago because we thought we got the mother of all deals for the Royal Hideaway and now it has dropped down to $576.

We could have had our choice of destinations and resorts if we had waited until today to book.  *sigh*

So, yes prices do drop if you're patient and have nerves of steel.

Mr. B.   Come by on Monday morning and we will get to meet finally. If you have a car maybe my friend and I can take a tour through town with you.

See you at 10 AM Monday at the front lobby.

That's great BigJohn I'm pleased you've booked.

Not too sure about Monday though because I'll be in Banes for the day.

I'll PM you tomorrow to see if we can sort out a more convenient time.

Sure thing Mr. B.

Let me check what other days I'm available.

 Tuesday,
 Wednesday,
 Thursday,
 Friday,
 Saturday,

I might be able to squeeze in time to visit. I don't plan on any organized excursions so any day would be fine.

 Your choice.

No "nerves of steel" here.  I couldn't wait to book just 4 days before departure.

Believe it or believe it I have only just got out of bed!!!

I would have still been there now had it not been for a phone call from Dell to see if I had received my computer.

I'll be in touch sometime later today, once I have  spent a few more hours messing about on the new laptop wondering what will happen if I delete various useless pieces of software that Dell have preinstalled.
