I got an email yesterday from Sell Off Vacations about a deal they are running called "Cuba Roulette". Here is how it works...It encompasses 3 regions of Cuba, Holguin, Varadero, and Cayo Coco. Since we are interested in Holguin, I will give you the details about that area. The other areas work the same, only with different resorts. The cost is $697 + tax for a week. Once you pay for Holguin Roulette, you are guaranteed to stay at a 4* or better property. You are informed at least 3 days in advance which property it will be. In the case of Holguin, the 4*+ hotels are Sol Luan y Mares, Brisas Guardalavaca, Grand Playa Turquesa, Playa Pesquero, Blau Costa Verde, or Playa Costa Verde. My question to you all is this. As we are thinking very seriously about trying this deal...I have stayed at the PP. I know that most of you have stayed at one of the other hotels or more. We are taking the girls (2&4) with us. Any reason why one or more of the hotels would make this a shaky proposition??

It's an excellent deal for sure! I have been to both Playa Costa Verde and Grand Playa Turquesa. Both are great spots - the service and staff at PCV are much better than GPT - IMHO. The beach at both resorts is good with the beach at GPT being wider and longer than PCV. Food is great at both places. GPT is a huge resort built into a hillside so there are lots of stairs but it's good exercise after all those mojitos and dinners!!!

If you are definitely guaranteed a 4* I say go for it - for that price you can't go wrong!!

Wow, when is the departure date? Is this only out of TO?
What a deal! I hope you get to stay at Blau - this is my favorite of all on the list. I was there in March and we have never eaten so well in all of our 10+ years of travel to Cuba. I was quite impressed with the resort as a whole. And would go back in a heart beat. Although, my next trip is to Brisas Guardalavaca as the kids are coming this time and the deal was too good to pass up. Let us know how you make out. Man, I wish we could get deals like that out here in Manitoba.

Heck, even when I straight booked the PCV 3 times, I think I still played this game!

I've stayed at the PP, PCV, and the GPT, and visited the Sol and Blau! It's a great deal for any of these hotels.

If you can get away, GO! Man, Go!

Mister, the only one of the bunch that I would be "nervous" about is the Brisas Guardalavaca and that is only because I know the renovations aren't complete.

Bigjohn just recently returned from that resort so he might be able to give you some insight.
Otherwise it sounds like a fantastic deal and I don't think you could go wrong with any of the resorts

Hey Meester,

Any of those resorts would be very acceptable for me. The thing to check is the price for the week you want for all of the available resorts. You might find that one is a lower price, and no roulette.
At Brisas G last month there were families with young kids and there were no problems with the children.
What is the time frame for the 'special' you were sent? Your girls might be driving before the renos are done at Brisas G. Cuba Time you know.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the selections.

For those interested, the deal has 2 departure dates left...January 7 & 14 out of Toronto. We are not going to be able to take advantage of this incredible deal, as there is no single supplement allowed with this deal, so we either have to leave the father in law at home, or find someone who can go with us to get the double occupancy in his room. We have exhausted all options, to no avail. I just hate when I find a great deal and cannot use it. Hopefully someone on here can book it, so all is not in vain.

There is actually a reduced rate for children on this deal. It is not a greta deal for the little ones, but it is made up for when you price out the whole family.
