Returning to Cuba
« on: November 14, 2006, 08:40:00 AM »
I have just completed my flight booking for a return to Cuba on November 30th for 14 nights.

I had been monitoring the prices since my return with both Thomas Cook (My Travel) and First Choice (Eclipse Direct).

My Travel were asking £224 flight only but today increased the cost to £234 (no meals included - £17 extra for meals).   Their flight returns via Varadero and the seating is 3-3-3 on the Thomas Cook Airbus.

The First Choice seating is 2-3-2 and the price was £288.48 until today when it dropped to £260.88 (inc meals and 1 nights accommodation).  I decided to book it taking the chance that they would discount me a further £65 for multiple bookings with them during the past 12 months. I emailed them and they replied immediately in the affirmative so the return flight cost is an amazing £195.88

 Mr K Holmes Thu 30 Nov 2006

 London Gatwick to Cuba

Cuba East Traveller (1nt accom)  2 Weeks

 Total Cost £195.88

I am so excited about the prospect of returning just three weeks after leaving and then, on my return, it will be just over two weeks when I'm back there for New Year.

I'll be staying in a Casa in Banes - the same one that I'll be staying at when I visit for the New Year.

No car this time (I need to watch the pennies!!!)  I might though hire one for three days or the like if I feel the need to go to Holguin or somewhere.

Have been thinking of driving up to Havana for a 5 day stay but nothing definite planned.  May do that in the New Year trip.

Congrats Bellagio - lucky you - don't I wish I could travel as much as you!!!  You may need to get a UK Tourist Card just to get back into the UK  ;)   ;)

Can't wait to hear all about the Casa experience - may just try that myself some day!!!

I suppose I just like to travel and get away from the humdrum existence in the UK.  Basically I'm idle, so it's nice not having to prepare and cook my food, etc. etc.

Also I have so many friends in Canada and Cuba that I love visiting both countries.    Cuba scores hands down in the winter though because I want warmth and sun.

I just wish I didn't have to keep paying that 25 CUC's departure tax though!!!
