There are always different opinions to every situation!    :)   This is our opinion of the Sol Luna y Mares, we really enjoyed this resort and would recommend it , based on our experience!

 Hi Shine
We were at the Sol Luna Mares in November and although I agree that the resort is dated and needs a facelift (like many 10+ year old resorts in Cuba) and I agree that the Mexican Restaurant wasn't our best meal of the week. Buffets are buffets( enough said  :) ! I have to disagree with your comments about the staff, we found them to be exceptional and we received absolutely fantastic service. We enjoyed one of the best meals that we have ever had in cuba at the Meditteranean Restaurant, melt in your mouth Filet Mignon (normally would never consider having beef in Cuba). Obviously the weather was a negative, but the beach is great and fun to snorkle in front of the Paradisus.
I also agree that this hotel is probably not ideally suited for weddings but we enjoyed candle lit walkways to the beach at night. Our maid service was excellent , towel art, flowers etc.
I realize your focus was on the Paradisus next door as you made every attempt to stay there, but for the price,
this hotel is excellent value as a matter of fact it is one of the few hotels that we would love to spend 2 weeks at!!
It just goes to show how different, peoples opinions can be depending on circumstances, timing and expectations!
Just our Dos Centavos!  :)   :)

 Cheers....... Fred and Tracie

I will be going to Luna Mares Next week, for yes, my wedding.  We have been at this resort 3 times over the past 6 years and felt that it would be a great place for a wedding.  And the price is affordable so lots of our family and friends are able to join us.  Yes, it isn't brand spanking new and looks a bit weathered, but for the money it is quite suitable.  One friend who is coming along was with us there 2 years ago and she has got to be the pickiest eater I know and when I told her about going there for our wedding, she was quite thrilled as she said that Luna Mares has the best food of any resort she has ever been at.  She goes every year to a resort and has been at many of a 4 and 5 star in Mexico, DR, Cuba etc.

I'll post a review when I get back to let people know how the resort is for a wedding.  I have seen other people's photos of their wedding at Luna Mares and was quite impressed with how they decorated the Luna beach restaurant for the reception dinner --- I didn't even recognize it.
