Snorkling and Diving mask fogging tip
« on: June 12, 2005, 09:34:00 PM »
I found this one out in Jamaica and live by it now everytime I go diving and snorkling.

Baby shampoo.  yup, you read right.  Get a small bottle of baby shampoo ( I use the shoppers generic brand in the travel sized bottle) squirt a bit into your mask, coat it well, then rinse it out just before you hit the water.  Since I've started using this, I've  never had my mask fog up.  Ask FlopNFly, she's a satisfied customer.    :D

I've shown it to quite a few people now who all gave the same feed back.  Holy @$##  it works!     (last time being one of the dive Masters in Cuba who was skeptical but is now a convert)

 Give it a try.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

I'm a firm beleiver myself, and I actually learned that trick, during my first time in Cuba.

A guy I met down there from Waterloo who was my dive buddy and he suggested I try his, and it worked like a charm...

Just remember, it has to be Baby shampoo...  You will have a lousy dive, with your eyes full of Head&Shoulders!!!
If at first, you do not succeed; You Obviously did Not use a BIG enough Hammer!!!
If at first, you Do Succeed.. try not to look tooo Astonished!

another convert!    :D

definitely baby shampoo, but it doesn't have to be the expensive stuff, like I said, I use the generic stuff from Shoppers Drug Mart, and it works great.
