Chelsea Tailgate Party
« on: April 26, 2005, 10:37:00 PM »
Calling Steve,
We need your assistance with this one.
As I understand it, there will be a pre-party at the Chelsea. Can you tell us the estimated time of said pre-party. I planned on your advice, driving first to the BH, then hopping on the red rocket to the Chelsea for the pre-party gathering. All I want to know is what time is everyone planning on being at the Chelsea.

Thanks - and its 17 more sleeps til CN2 in TO!   :dan:

Kimber... don't know about anyone else, but my train gets into Toronto at 11 am.  Give me 2 hours to get to the hotel, and get "cleaned up" and the party can start any time after that.

Last time, I beleive the "official" time was about4:00 - 4:30, but everyone just drifted in, and we kept adding tables.

Since the Moderators of this site will allow me to "double post", I'm gonna throw in another two-cents... (I hope someone will take a check)

Posted at Debbie's for those that haven't been in for a bit:

"For those that have left because of this, I am sorry you have taken offence.

And yes...Pat and I are planning to come to Toronto Cuba Night 2....if we're still welcome....

 Debbie "

And I took the liberty of replying with:

 "Debbie (& Pat too)

I can only speak for myself of course, but I know I am not alone in my opinion, and I would be Thrilled to meet you at Cuba Night 2. The first one was a blast, and this one is shaping up to be even better.

Since Steve and I are the defacto organisers of the evening, I would also like to extend my personal welcome, to the "tail-gate" party at the Delta Chelsea, Monarch Pub, before the actual event.

The "Absolute Official start-time" is 4pm, and I fully expect less than half of us to be on time, and a full quarter of us, to be at least an hour early!

Please come out and join us, for what promises to be a wonderful evening!

 Thanks

 Gambitt

I was thinking about staying home for a weekend, and attending CN2. However, now that the dictator and her beau will be attending, I will stay with my original plans. Before I am judged to be immature, please hear me out. I did take offense at being told what to post and what not to. I was a lurker at Debbies for many months before going on line and posting. Certain people, including most of you here, made me feel comfortable enough to do so, without even realizing it. Then, to be treated like a child being scolded, I decided that I didn't want any part of that. I take enough criticism already without being told what I can and cannot talk about. Sorry for the rant!! To those of you attending, ENJOY, and have a cold one for me (each of you).  :1:

I'm with you ref.  Although we'll be away from May 13-20, I did want to go and in fact said in the thread that I looked forward to them setting the date for CN3.  There are some people over there and here that I really would like to meet.  But since 3dogs thread of yesterday, I've found there are many with their heads in the sand and they expect most of us to be back and mind our p's and q's. IMO.

I agree.

I agree with you too ref93 and millie, but will be attending CN2 - for a few reasons.

First of all, I am taking the approach that we are adults, and therefore, the CN2 night is not the venue for rehashing the past and what's occurred. I am going to have fun, enjoy some real authentic cuban food, and meet up with people face to face.

Second, the kind hearted, wonderful soul that I am volunteered to be a DD. So I am not going to pull the plug on that, as Irie (my neighbour) has dibs on seats in my van. Also the NJT people are coming and we are taking donations.

Third, I am looking forward to meeting many of the faces that I have developed a sense of knowing through the boards, including this one. I didn't make it to the first one as it was just around the time we were getting ready to vacation to Cuba.

Fourth - I have to have one cervaca for ref93 at the Chelsea, and a mojito for mille - but that's it.

 Anyway my four cents worth...

Kimber:
That was at least 25 cents worth.  Could you make mine a tall glass of Shiraz (not sure how that would go with the beer).  :t:

Geez.....

 I like going to Cuba.
I like talking to people about Cuba.
I like to share Cuba experiences with people.
I like to eat Cuban food and hoist a few Mojitos, Anejos and Cervezas.

I look forward to sharing an evening with like minded people, not matter which forum they have posted to or will continue to post to.

Those that matter don't mind. Those that mind, don't matter.

Welcome Steve.  I'm glad you've come over to put your 2 cents worth in too.

Have a great time on the 14th!  :1:

I went to Cuba Night I, and I had a great time.  I met a lot of really nice people and as you can see from the photo's we all had fun.

We are looking forward to CN2, after all they named the menu for me.  LOL

It might be a little awkward with some of the people there, because of the issues that went on at Debbie's board.  I'm going to go with an open mind, and open arms.

I personally don't see this night as a Debbies Cuba Night, I see it as a reunion of friends, therefore it shouldn't matter what has transpired.  I know that several people from Debbie's have been lurking here and reading, so I will say this.

If anybody has a problem with me attending, speak now or forever hold your peace.

 Heather

I can't imagine anybody having a problem with any of us attending.  I'm sure you'll be welcomed warmly.

Maybe for CN3 Debbie and bellagio can make it too.  I imagine the turnout would be even greater for that one.  <img border="0" alt="[clap]" title="" src="graemlins/clap.gif" />

I helped to organise it, I'm looking forward to it, and I'm going to have a great time.

Ok guys and gals, Wendy has noted a problem for the tail-gate problem and here's a possible solution. (Thanks for the heads-up Wendy)

I just talked to the Delta Chelsea and Wendy is correct in that the Monarch doesn't open in time.

 HOWEVER......

The Elm Street Lounge which is also on the Lobby floor is open from 12:00 Noon and we could all meet there instead if that is ok with everybody.

If Eric could stop in the Lounge when he first arrives and checks into the hotel, they would be willing to put aside an area of the Lounge for us and put some table together for the Cuba gang. They need an hour or so notice to do this for us.

Eric, can you do this for us and is everybody OK with the new meeting place for the Tailgate Party?

Well I'm looking forward to CN2. Had a blast at the first one and met some great people...  :)
I will be at the Elm Street Lounge around 4 (or earlier as I am getting a hotel room at the Chelsea) so Gambitt and/or I will make sure they have tables set up for us  :)
