Sunwing Airlines
« on: September 14, 2005, 04:02:00 PM »
Superior service from beginning to end

(TORONTO – JULY 7, 2005) – Canada’s newest airline now has a new home. Sunwing Airlines announced today that it will be flying out of Terminal 1 at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

“We launched this airline to ensure a consistently high level of service for the customers so being located in a first class facility like Terminal 1 is a perfect fit for Sunwing Airlines,” said Colin Hunter, President and CEO of the Sunwing Travel Group. “Being based in a technologically advanced terminal that was designed with the customer in mind will ensure that our passengers have a positive and comfortable vacation experience from beginning to end.”

Sunwing will have a separate check-in located in the terminal for travellers to pick up their tickets and enquire about flight times. Terminal 1 re-opened in April of 2004.

Sunwing Airlines’ inaugural flight will take place on November 17th, 2005, traveling to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The airline will use new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft, one of the most fuel-efficient, safest and comfortable aircraft in the skies today.

Sunwing Vacations offers all-inclusive holiday packages and charter flights to Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and the U.K. Flights depart from Toronto, Ottawa and London. For two years in a row, Sunwing has been listed by Profit Magazine as one of the Fastest Growing Companies in Canada. Since launching the Sunwing brand in 2002, over 400,000 passengers have travelled with Sunwing Vacations making it one of Ontario’s largest tour operators.

For more information, and to book a Sunwing holiday contact your local Sunwing Travel Agent or visit www.sunwing.ca.

This is great!  You'll be able to book with Sunwing, which is much better than signature, and not even have to fly Sky(lack of)Service!

I love sunwing, they are great and the way they came through for everybody when Jetsgo went down was admirable!!!  They won my respect.

I hope they have some good flight times, I'm sick of the 6 am flights.

:)  Really--I enjoyed getting away at 6 AM and being in Varadero around 10:30--gave us the whole day to wander around and go to the beach.  That is what I am hoping our departure time will be in April.  I doubt I could sleep the night before anyway.

I have to agree with Milli. Our last couple of trips have been late afternoon flights so arrived at the resort in pitch dark. You miss seeing the scenery on the bus drive, having a good look at the resort as you approach, taking a walk around. Plus, by that time you're so tired all you want to do is sleep. It's like missing a day of the trip. I know you leave late at the end but once I'm packed and out of the room I'm ready to go home, so that last day is a bit of a waste too.

 Just mho.

I'm not sure...

Our flight numbers are SW, but apparently they use different airlines, ie SkyService.

apparently these are their own planes now.  No more using skyservice or kelowna or the one we used, I can't remember the name??

I wouldn't mind trying them out.

Our trip to Cayo Coco is with Sunwing - I'm hoping we are on one of their planes (rumour has it the baggage allowance is higher!) Looking forward to leaving from Terminal 1.

It sounds like a lovely flight from the brochure - I'll be sure to let you all know when I return.

Lunagirl... I hate to burst your bubble but....

I got the confirmation email yesterday, from Sunwing, and the baggage allowance, is the same as skyservice...   Not saying that your's might be different, but that's what I got//

I was looking at the web site and they feature 2 planes one of which  says it has a 33kg allowance. Of course, with the fuel etc. that may have changed - but a girl can dream, eh!
