Maybe you should take the Cell with you...
« on: August 22, 2005, 02:40:00 PM »
Hi,

The following message was sent to me and seemed worthwhile passing on.

Paramedics will turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's
identity. You can make their job much easier with a simple idea that
they are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE.

ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. If you add an entry in the contacts
list in your cell phone under ICE, with the name and phone no. of the
person that the emergency services should call on your behalf, you can
save them a lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly. It
only takes a few moments of your time to do.

Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately. ICE
 your cell phone NOW!

Good idea BD.  Unfortunately, I don't have any more room on my cell, but my first 3 entries are "Home", "Mike-cell", "Mike-work".  Any one of those, and the person I want contacted will be.

:)  That is a good idea Bulldog.  Unlike Millybess, there are people whose saved names and numbers don't consist of people who would know a person's health history or be the one to inform in an emergency.  Unfortunately I do not have a cell phone.(must be one of the last hold outs!)

I lost my cell phone once, and it was found and returned to me when the person who found it went thru my address book until they found an entry "mom and dad" and phoned it.  I got the message from my parents with the info on where my phone was and how i could retrieve it.  I now have an entry titled "if found" that includes contact info.

This email is circulating the UK as well, it is being send out by "The East Anglian ambulance Service" - so it is a genuine one - I now have it on my phone twice - I thought if something really horrible was to happen, the changes would be that Richard would be with me anyway - so I also have my sisters number on it as well.
