Following Travel Sites
« on: August 25, 2005, 10:40:00 AM »
   I am going to apologize before I even start!  By the time I book this trip I am going to drive you around the bend.  I started off by thinking that this year I would wait for a last minute deal.  Then I made the mistake of checking out the Sell Off sites and saw some great prices compared to what I remembered from last year.  As well, we would like to go for 2 weeks this year.  I have been checking off and on ever since and received an email from Sell Off Vacations that early booking specials would soon be finished.  Last night I went on and saw one resort that had previous been selling at around 1650/2 weeks going for closer to $2000.   Some resort deals were no longer there at an affordable price.  Today I rechecked and prices were back to the original lower ones on Escapes and there was a better variety of resorts.
My question is:  Do these sites follow a trend throughout the week?  Is there one day that the prices will seem to be lower, a time of the week when they will usually be higher?

This year a lot of strange things have been happening on the selloff sites.

Most of them drop their prices on Tuesdays.  This year I've noticed that they are putting the prices up on Thursdays and dropping them again on Tuesdays.  I have no idea why.

It's the stock market game, you have to be watching all the time. Not everybody has the time to do that.

List your choice of Resorts and dates here, and let the members keep an eye on prices for you.  There is always somebody on at some point in the day.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Good idea Heather. I've become the unofficial travel agent for many friends/family  :)

Milli: give us your list of resorts, when you want to go, how long and how many people (list kids if any so we know) and believe me, we'll keep you posted.
I admittedly am checking sell off sites every day (many times a day some days)
Yes, I'm compulsive/obsessive about this  :rof:

Wendy thank you so much for this service.  I hope Mike and I can be included as friends who you provide this service for.   :D      :D

How many people: 2, definitely just 2.  No kids.

List of resorts: Jibacoa, PRDO, PP, MCC, IV (we prefer IV's to straws)

When: When are you available to get your BIT together with my BIT and my two teenage sons?  Oh, did I mention the three dogs (where is he anyway?).  One consistently gets up at 5:00 a.m.  every morning no matter what.  But that's okay because it will give you plenty of time to get to work from the far, far west end.

For how long: As long as you can stand it!

:)  I do watch the sell offs quite closely and at least every other day.  But thanks to you Wendy or any member who sees a good deal.  I am looking for trips leaving from Halifax and I admit I don't check Toronto departures as your lower prices make me   :(   (for me that is!)  What I am watching for includes:

 Departure: Halifax

 Length of stay: 2 weeks

Destination: 1. Varadero  2. Holquin (would prefer to try Holquin but we may have another couple with us who have never been to Cuba and for some reason are more interested in Varadero

Resorts: IV, Bella Costa, Melia Varadero
          PP, GPT, PCV

Time frame:  Leaving either of first 2 weekends in April.

I do have another question  ;)   I see Playa Varadero 1920 is going really cheap out of Halifax $1425/pp for 2 weeks and has done so from early July til present date.  It is supposed to be a nice resort and I was wondering why the price is low and not moving. (ie --if there is a problem there
