Lesbos Greece- Any Info?..Thank You
« on: October 21, 2006, 12:37:00 PM »
Just finished talking to our British friends (Manchester) about booking holidays ..anyway, we made plans this year to visit Greece with them in Sept 2007.They book early in England.
My preference...after reading and reading..was Lesbos.I understand it's a fairly large island ..lots to see..the best ouzo(Epom)..something for everyone in our group.
Our British friends just returned from Skiathos..and are raving about it..they also heard some rather bad reviews about Lesbos indicating that it wasn't a pleasant place for tourists.
I just want to experience Greece (people, food, drink, etc).
Hoping someone out there may have been to Lesbos and can give me some feedback.
 Thank you in advance.

We haven't been yet, but have been talking about going there.  I have a few Greek friends who are telling us to make sure to visit Santorini (sp?).
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Garin is usually your man for European resorts.

Hopefully he will have some input for you.

Isn't it funny I've no interest at all in going to European resorts.  When I first discovered the Caribbean in 1991 that was it for me.

Hello bellagio,

Our trip to Greece has a "dual purpose"..visit with English friends plus a holiday.
I have to agree with you regarding the Caribbean .
We have been a "bit spoiled" for the past twenty some years in Cuba,Mexico and Central/South America.Couldn't ask for better service, beaches, scenery, fresh fruits, drinks, etc.
A trip next year to Greece, I know, will be different.Show me the ouzo and feta cheese.
 Will have fun anyway.

Hi
I've  never been to Lesbos  although have been to a few other Greek Isles -Skiathos is extremley nice - great beaches-and is small enough to explore in a couple of days. Greece is a different bag of worms completley but is very relaxing ,very friendly and the Retsina and the Feta cheese are to die for   :D    :b:

Well..we're booked.Going to Lesbos,Greece in September (6th to the 13th)2007..that's way off in the distance but that's how early they book ahead in England (unlike us Canadians who don't get the info/brochures until a few months before our holiday bookings).
Now we have to find some low fares for flights to Manchester (a couple of days with friends and our departure point to Greece) from the western part of Canada.Keeping my fingers crossed that there will be some seat sales on for next year.
 Time will tell.

At the moment you can get some of the best deals by booking early we have already booked to Corfu, this will be our first visit to Greece so I can't help much, my brother has visited the Greek island  several times and loves the people he hasn't been to Lesbos yet, Lesbos isn't as popular as some of the Greek islands so sampling the local couture should be easier, for more info on Lesbos check out

Hello Garin,

Thank you for the sites..will use them for further research.I'm rather excited about going to Greece..after doing the Caribbean for the past twenty years..guess I want something different to see, taste, drink.
I do envy the travel deals in England. Our friends (located near Manchester) just booked a "Valentine's Day" package to Spain with twenty other couples for a few days.Sounds like a fun romantic get away...in February.

 Thank you again.
