I haven't been to the hotel, but I've been to the area, and the beaches are amazing.

A don't miss in Negril, is sunset at Rick's Cafe... the sun drops righ ino the ocean, in a huge display of color.

Hi JJay

We haven't been to Riu Negril yet, hope to one day.  We have been to Beaches Negril, and you are going to love Negril.

I'm not sure if Rick's is open yet.  They had a lot of damage from the storms last year and closed for repairs.

If it is open, you have to do it!!  Gambitt is right.

We haven't been to Riu Negril - only to Riu Tropical Bay.  If they're anything alike, you'll have a great time.  We've already started saving for a trip to Negril next spring.
Hope you have a great time!  And enjoy the bus ride.   :bus:

rummrunner97,

At Riu Tropical, was the pool really small?  I've read so many reviews about the pool being small.

Do they still have the 2 seatings for dinner even at the buffet?

 thanks

At the time I never really noticed, but now that you mention it, I guess the pool is small.  It's almost like 2 pools side by side.  Maybe 30 x 30 feet in each pool give or take a bit.  We spent most of our time on the beach.  :D
I has a nice swim up bar though - good 'tenders too!
Looking forward to going back.  I checked out the pics. on Rusty's website but none of them do the pool much credit.
One more thing if you want to avoid the bus ride, last time we went, we took a commuter flight from Mo'Bay to Negril. Fifteen minutes in the air - no long bus ride.  I was making my first trip to the bar in my bathing suit when the bus pulled in!!
