Punta Cana
« on: November 16, 2005, 05:17:00 PM »
I've noticed a lot of great deals for Punta Cana lately.

Normally Punta Cana is more expensive, so I'm wondering why is it going so cheap?

Has there been another malaria scare and nobody is booking?

Bulldog, you're ok.  You're going to Puerta Plata and they never had the malaria in that area.

I think you'll notice a big difference in the beach compared to Punta Cana.  I like the beach at Puerta Plata because of the waves.

OMG you are going to love the waves.

We did some excellent body surfing, I'm sure that I'm still pulling sand out of parts where it doesn't belong.     :D

Sadly, yes there have been some UK and Euro tourists gone home with malaria recently (staying at the Bavaro Beach area, I believe) - there was a tiny article in the paper a couple of weeks ago.

:)   I know I have my vacation booked and should not be looking but I too have noticed the prices for Punta Cana are cheaper and I am looking for a Moncton departure (which was a bit more expensive last year)vs Halifax.  There are some very nice looking resorts there and I have read that Bavaro beach is beautiful.  Where was the malaria outbreak last year?  I know there were some N.B. tourists who returned from DR with that nasty bug last winter.  Does anyone remember if prices were affected by the outbreak last year?
