Alcohol Ban after Midnight in DR
« on: September 30, 2006, 11:25:00 AM »
This new law for the DR affects all bars and resorts that are open to the public.
This was taken from the website for Occidental Punta Cana Grand:

(Aug 01/2006)(9:00EST)(MP)(#270169)Please be advised of the following:
In an effort to help reduce crime, The Dominican government has issued an immediate ban on the Sale of Liquor in Discotheques, bars, colmadones, Liquor stores and Casinos after midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and after 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.  As the Discotheque "MANGU" at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana is also open to the public, the new law will affect the Disco and therefore clients will not be able to consume alcohol after midnight from Sunday to Thursday and after 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.  Alcohol will only be served to clients in the hotel lobby until 1 am, after this the clients will not be able to consume alcohol. The hotels in the Dominican are trying to work something out with the government to make allowances for Tourist Areas, but at present they have not come to a conclusion and the ban will continue in effect.  All other hotels that have discos that are not open to the public are not being affected.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
