Hi Travelchick,
I was just wondering if you have or know of anybody who has been to Jibacoa lately? I'm hoping to go down on my honeymoon around the 2nd week of june and was a) wondering if they shut down services because it's the slow season
b) if there is a scuba center on site?

And would you consider it honeymoon terrirory?
I was hoping to go to Paradisus Rio De Oro, but it's waaaaaay out of our price range.
I've been to Covarrubias and liked the fact that it was quiet - Jibacoa gives me the same feeling...

thanks! :TY:

Hi Kitty,
we just got back from Breezes Jibacoa on Monday night.
As far as I know they don't shut any services completely down in slow season.  They will close one a la carte or the other for a few nights if there are fewer guests.  The positive side to this is that they are trying hard to bring back the "dinner under the stars" idea that used to happen early on in the resorts history..when there were fewer guests around.  One night a week they would bring the entire buffet outside by the pool and lay all the tables with linen so that you could dine outdoors..of course it's weather dependent, and last week when they tried to do it the weather was not cooperative.  It was quite windy, which was kind of relief since the temperature and humidity were super high :tongue3:
It's my understanding that while it's a bit slower at the hotel they'll be doing this once a week.  They've also started having the show down on the beach by the beach bar one night a week and the "returning guest cocktail party" will be held at the lovely new beach bar starting this Friday...all weather permitting of course!

If you have specific questions why not email Guest Relations?
guestrelations@breezesjibacoa.cyt.cu

They do have a dive centre..I think they do 2 dives per day.  Can't tell you much more than that, the whole idea of scuba diving petrifies me... I don't understand why, I'm an excellent swimmer and do okay snorkelling after the initial hyperventillating thing passes...go figure :dontknow:
