Day 5 , Ciego de Avila and Camaguey

Sorry for the delay getting more about the trip posted but have been busy getting caught up at work and working on a kitchen reno for my daughter

Day 5 , Ciego de Avila and Camaguey

Thursday morning we visited a Complejo Gerontológico, senior's home in Ciego de Avila before heading off to Camaguey.

This senior’s home was the recipient of some materials last year including an organ donated by a couple who work with the foundation. The home was very pleased to receive the organ although they have no one there who knows how to play it.  We were able to learn that the Ministry of Culture is sending someone in to teach some of the residents and staff to play it. 











This photo shows a couple who met and were married at the home, the gentleman is blind.





A lot of dominos being played here as is the case across Cuba.










Once we moved on to Camaguey we checked into our Hotel, the Plaza located right behind the Camaguey train station.








After having lunch we went to Hogar de Impedidos Físicos y Mentales Camaguey ( hospital for the mentally impaired) and   Hogar de Niños sin amparo filial ( orphanage), ( My battery died on my camera so I did not get many pictures here)







After a shower and change of clothes we were off to the Camaguey Guest House for dinner and  a very pleasant evening. Our hosts presented the Ladies in the group with a statue and the Gentlemen with a bottle of Puerto Principe Rum.

Then back to the hotel.

It's Great to see our donations put to good use.

Apparently, I have 15 bags of stuff to bring down, from a presentation that Iriemon did for my SiL's serority.
