Thanks, first time going to Cuba this Dec 3rd-10th.  Staying at the Barcelo Solymar.  Can't wait to go! 

Each time I go to a new country I try to get into an AI property first so I can do some recon.  This way I will be "comfortable" while getting to know my surroundings gathering information for when I return with my backpack and really get acquainted with this little gem of an island.  I'm so looking forward to staying in the Casa Particulars and checking out the history and local culture.  I'm a bit of a foodie, so any tips on good eats would surely be welcomed.  And yes I realize I have chosen Varadero (very touristy) to start but I want to see all of the island and what better way to start off than to get this part out of my system first..hahaha
