Hanifaru
« on: August 04, 2010, 11:04:40 AM »
I have today managed to get on 10 day live-a-board to dive Hanifaru during the Autumn Equinox. This is a very restricted and an incredibly special area in the Baa Atolls, and a very special one off time of year to be allowed to dive Hanifaru.

I can't wait!

For those not familiar with Hanifaru here is a youtube link;

I'm sure you are very excited :b: :b:, and we are all very jealous   :grin:

Cheers guys, I will definately post some pics and do a diving review when I get back. I am not leaving until late September so I have a couple of months yet.

I had put my name down for this trip for 2010 and 2011, but they had already sold out ages ago. The Maldives Government restrict the number of boats and divers to this area, so it's quite limited. I then placed my name down for 2012, but even then they said that they had a list and that they can't make a decision if I can get on the boat until early next year. I get the impression big money punters charter the whole boat for the Autumn Equinox and the live-a-board owner makes a huge killing, so I had given up getting to Hanifaru for a few years.

I was calling yesterday to book a diving trip for March when I spoke to the MD of the company, (it's a small family company) he said that a diver had just dropped out of this years trip and he offered me the space there and then. So I booked it, cost me the equivalent of $5000, but I am sure it will be worth every penny.
